I was a lucky girl when I got to photograph these sweeties this summer.  Lily gets the prize for being the youngest newborn I’ve photographed at 2 days old!  I first met her brother Jake when he was a baby at a Hey Baby Valentine’s session, and he’s been a frequent visitor at my mini-sessions through the years.  He was so sweet with his baby sister, but also thoughtful enough to look at me so I could get some shots of those amazing brown eyes!  And I adore the photo of Mama nursing her baby… it tugs at my heartstrings and reminds me of when my babies were little!

I’ll miss their beautiful family as this was our last portrait session before they moved away from Kansas.  I’m so happy we got these newbie photos before the moving van pulled out!

We’re deep into summer here at the “b” house… theatre camp just ended, pool passes are half gone, popsicle sticks are piling up, the VW is itching for a roadtrip, and my computer has grown dusty from neglect.  I thought I’d play a little catch-up for anyone wondering “just where has Kim gone?”  I’m still here,  working a bit when the kids aren’t looking.  But mostly playing and reading and loving my 2 amazing kiddos.  Life is short, and I want to enjoy every minute of their sweet childhood.  I’ll be back behind the camera once school starts, gearing up for seniors and the family holiday season.  But only after a roadtrip, a few pool visits, and lots more popsicles.

Here’s a little eye candy of some things I worked on & should have posted here months ago… enjoy!

Valentine’s Day photos are my new favorite.  All the bright color, bold hearts, and happy kids are absolutely delicious!  Reminds me of a red velvet cupcake with rainbow sprinkles.  These little sweeties came to visit me this weekend for my Valentine’s Day Mini-Session and I couldn’t stop myself from taking way too many shots of each of them.  Sorry, parents, but you’re going to have some tough choices!  Here’s a little taste-test collage I made of some of my favorites from the day:

There are lots more, but I need to get to designing their Valentines, which I will post here later this week.  I have one more family coming in for Valentine’s photos this Friday, so if anyone sees these and absolutely must have some colorful, lovey Valentine’s photos, email me.  You could have a delicious little treat of your own.  Mmmm… is anyone else craving red velvet cake now? (Bluestem Bistro, here I come!)

Enjoy ~Kim

It’s December… Do you have your cards done?  Do you know what you’re buying the grandparents this year?  Let me help you!

Come down to Boxlab tonight and tomorrow for our Modern Holiday Mini-Sessions.  You’ll get some fabulous photos of your family or just the kiddos, a set of holiday cards customized with your fancy photos (that will be ready in a week), and the chance to buy some prints for your family gifts.  And the whole event will benefit TR Elementary’s PTO!  Photos are first come, first served, or you can book your session by clicking here.  Several families already have, so they’ll get first dibs on their preferred time!  Boxlab is located at 407 Poyntz Ave, right downtown Manhattan.

Stick around tonight at Boxlab after the Holiday Parade for some free hot chocolate and cookies from our own holiday elves.  Our kids will be wearing their new aprons and serving up goodies and they couldn’t be happier!  See you tonight ~kim b.

The outside holiday mini-session that I’ve been talking about has been moved to this Sunday, Nov 27 from 2-4:30!  (I moved it because the weather tomorrow will be wet & windy, and most people are still out of town.)  We’re still going to set up a red couch, a simple tree, some handcrafted garlands, and a vintage red VW bus!  Location to be announced:  I’m scoping out the options today to find a tallgrass field where I can pull the van up next to the couch.  The cost includes the session fee and a base package that includes a wall print (11×14), gift print (5×7), and set of 5×7 press-printed holiday cards, for $199.  (Other packages are available, but $199 is the lowest one and must be paid to reserve your session).  For more details, go to my website.  There are only 5 spots available!  To book your appointment, go to http://kimbphoto.bookmonline.com/schedules/nov27.  (hint, hint… the later sessions will have the best light!)  The location will look something like this…

The next chance for inside holiday photos will be next weekend: Friday and Saturday, Dec 2 & 3.  I will be setting up a mini-studio inside Boxlab, whose modern home storefront is downstairs from me, and together we will have holiday mini-sessions that will benefit Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School!  (a portion of the proceeds will be donated to their PTO).  These can be for families or just kids, but will not result in as many photos as the outside session.  The deal will include a set of 25 holiday cards (or prints if you prefer) with your fancy new photo and will cost $75.  Sessions will be held on a first come, first served basis.  More details will be announced in a few days.

I know time is of the essence… so all prints and holiday cards will be turned around quickly for those orders placed by December 7th.  My plan is to have cards & prints delivered one week after your order, so that you’ll still have time to get them in the mail before the big day.  Please email me or just book your appointment on the site above if you’re interested.

Enjoy this beautiful weekend with your kiddos, and I hope to see you for holiday photos!  cheers ~kim

You are invited to my Holiday Magical Mini-Sessions!  The first of several is this Saturday, November 26th, from 1-4:00pm.  Here’s the scene:  outside in a tallgrass field (in Manhattan, KS), a cozy striped blanket & a red loveseat for snuggling, handcrafted garland & white lights strung about, and a vintage red VW bus for a little extra quirk & color.   All under the magical autumn light and just in time for the holidays.  This session will get you at least 3 things: fun picture gifts for family, unique wall art for your own home, and the most fabulous holiday cards of any of your friends or family!

These family mini-sessions will be 30 minutes in length, and will result in approximately 20 images to choose from.  This session is for immediate family only, preferably no more than 5 family members.  You will order images at your proofing and ordering meeting in my studio about a week later, and all print products will be delivered by December 10th.

Here’s the scoop on pricing as it’s different than how I’ve done it in the past.  All sessions must be purchased as part of a collection.  A session fee is of $75 is included in all collections, each option includes a wall print or canvas (10×15 & larger), gift prints (8×12 & smaller), and a set of 25 holiday cards. You may choose one of the following:

Collection #1:  The “Follow Your Bliss Collection” is a mix & match your image package at a 10% discount from my a la carte pricing.  You must choose one of each of the the 3 following items: a Wall Print, a Gift Print, and a set of 25 Holiday Cards.  Minimum cost for this package is $199 (the smallest package being a 10×15 wall print, a 4×6 or 5×7 gift print, and 25 holiday 5×7 postcards).  Different images may be chosen for each print.   -or-

Collection #2:  The “Giving Collections”, which provide more prints at a better price because all the prints ordered within the package are of the same image.  There are 4 packages within this Collection:  Peace ($200), Love ($275), Joy ($375), and Bliss ($580).  These packages will save you from 13%-23% off my base prices.

Of course, additional prints or cards may be ordered at a la carte pricing, with a discount off duplicate images.  For more details on these collections, please email me at kimbphoto@gmail.com.  To reserve your session, please click here to go directly to my appointment-booking website!  Sessions may be held with a $200 deposit, payable with Credit Card or Paypal.
